ABOUT US

WHERE WE STARTED

Authentic Carpentry was started by Ben and Jake in 2018 with the simple idea that people matter and that we could help them have a better installation experience. Ben came from the world of project management, and Jake came from a background of carpentry and cabinet installation. Our initial goal was to learn how to install at a high level and create opportunities for inexperienced laborers to become skilled carpenters through apprenticeship and on-site training. Training them in the values of efficiency, sustainability, and an eye for the details. From learning how to organize a van and a job site, to understanding staging and the order of trades, from the beginning we have worked to create a culture that is centered on learning, joy, and beauty at work and at home.

HOW WE GREW

As Authentic Carpentry grew, our opportunities grew. This growth allowed Jake to return to his love for architecture and design, and Ben to focus on building out our project management by promoting good design and good communication. We began to see huge opportunities to create better experiences for our client’s entire renovation and not just the cabinet installation. Initially, when Authentic Carpenters arrived on site to install the cabinets or the trim, there had already been so many decisions made that could not be easily “undone”. This often led to the client feeling “stuck” with the finished project. Oftentimes the coordination between the different parts of the project was lacking or non-existent which would lead to frustration, delays, stress, and financial hardship for the clients we were encountering.

WHO WE ARE

As we continue to grow, we are still committed to learning, personal growth, and exploration. We have created a comprehensive, people-first system of renovation. Our team personally creates the designs, blueprints, renders, and construction documents in-house, which helps us be able to remove all of the “guesswork” for our clients. Working closely with a skilled interior designer, we are able to pull all of the pieces of a project together in a cohesive way that makes the finished product feel like home. Through our commitment to detailed planning, labor, and job management we are able to become the single source of contact throughout the entire project. From the way we set up dust containment, to our job-specific, customer-facing webpage that keeps you constantly updated, our goal is to make you and your family feel safe, cared for, and heard throughout the entire project, even if you are on vacation in the Bahamas. Our aim is to leave you feeling like royalty and for our team of employees, vendors, and designers to have made some great new friends and have done some really cool work along the way.

We look forward to meeting you!
